SKILLS YOU WILL DEVELOP 

The objective of The IIE Bachelor of Accounting degree is to qualify students in the field of accountancy and provide a steppingstone to a range of professional accounting qualifications. The degree is structured in accordance with the new HEQSF guidelines and will provide students with the knowledge, skills and applied competencies identified by professional Accounting bodies.

The IIE Bachelor of Accounting degree is accredited by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) as an undergraduate degree to prepare students for the Chartered Accountant qualification.

POSSIBLE CAREERS

The IIE Bachelor of Accounting degree is accredited by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA). This means that this programme is designed to equip students with skills required to qualify as a future professional accountant including:

·         Chartered Accountant (CA(SA))

·         Professional Accountant

·         Public practice

·         Consulting in Taxation, Management Accounting, International Financial Reporting Standards and Auditing

·         Academia (teaching and learning, research and community-based involvement). 

DURATION

This is a three-year qualification offered by The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) at IIE Rosebank College.

MODE OF DELIVERY

Online (Full-time and Part-time): Online lectures take place on weekdays.

THE PATH TO BECOMING A CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT

1. Complete a 3-year SAICA accredited accounting degree.

2. Complete a 1-year SAICA accredited Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting.

3. At the beginning of the training contract with an accredited training provider (usually an audit firm).

4. At the beginning of the training contract, the first of the SAICA professional exams is written, the Initial Test of Competence (ITC).

5. At the end of the 2nd year of the training contract, the second of the SAICA professional exams is written, the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC).

STUDY FURTHER WITH IIE PATHWAYS

The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) offers you the opportunity to start with an IIE higher certificate and progress into a diploma, a degree and then articulate into an IIE Postgraduate qualification.
